LCC 6311 - Abstraction
I started out with a simple picture with a lot of basic shapes in it.
I took it into Photoshop and ran some filters on it to get a sketched effect.
Then I pulled all of the depth out and flattened it.
I pulled the color out and gave it a sketched look.
For the last one I reduced it to just the basic shapes.
Starting from the same basic image.
I started to go in the sketched direction again but I didn't like it.
Then I decided since the basic shapes where what I Iliked, that I would take those shapes and move them around a bit.
Move them a bit more, and break some of them.
I'm not sure I am happy with this. I may need to play with it a bit more.
The Lofts
This is a photo from the Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts where I used to live. I really like the colors, even though they are mostly the result of a cheap camera and don't actually exist in nature.
Again using photshop to create the sketch.
I like this one with the color pulled out.
My drawing skills kind of fail me at this point. I can get the basic shapes but the perspective is lost.
Starting with the same photo...
Since I like the colors in this photo, I wanted to play with removing the shapes. So I blurred the building.
Blurring the building made me realize that what I really like about the photo was the sky. So why not fill the build with clouds of a slightly different color? I kept some of the internal lines for this one.
I pulled the internal lines for the final version and I really like it. Something about it still says building to me, but it probably wouldn't if I had not seen the original. It seems to be made of sky and perspective.
